Specialist Rug Cleaning

Rug CleaningWith hardwood flooring and laminates becoming more popular the use of rugs to soften rooms and add interest as well as focal points is becoming more popular than ever before. Also, with more and more people travelling to exotic destinations in the Middle and Far East we have seen a large increase in Persian and Oriental rugs that our customers require cleaning.

Great care must be taken when cleaning rugs, especially expensive hand made ones. These often have unstable vegetable dyes that require us to test them before we commence cleaning. In most cases we would remove these rugs to our secure unit for colour testing, cleaning and drying. (collection and return is free of charge)

Many every day rugs can often be cleaned on site (depending on the extent of soiling, space and convenience). These are usually made with acid based dyes and we know there is no danger of the colours bleeding into each other.

Rug Fringes - to have or have not. Some people like fringes, some people cut them off, some rugs have false fringes sown on to their backs and antique fringes turn brown. We will advise you on what can be done to your rug fringes enabling you to make an informed choice. True fringes are the ends of the base frame used to construct your rug, knotted together at the ends so the rug doesn’t fall apart. After the knot has been tied the rest of the material forms the fringe - this material is usually cotton. Over many years cotton turns brown. (known as cellulosic browning) We can restore this back to its original white colour but it then may lose its antique appeal. Cotton is also very susceptible to staining so any stains or ingrained dirt may require specialist treatment.

As you can see we take pride in looking after your investment and treating it with the respect it deserves. Rest assured advice is free and a qualified technician is only too happy to pass this on to you.
