Leather
Contemporary or traditional, hard wearing and long lasting, child friendly yet luxurious - it must be leather. Recent years have seen a huge increase in leather furniture in British homes probably the result of Mediterranean holidays and the opening up of EU and Far East manufacturing markets - both traditional homes to leather upholstery.
Recently Chem-Dry has invested a lot of money in developing products and solutions that can clean and condition you're much sought after leather furniture.
We can solve problems with ink and dye transfer, spills and stains, cracking and scuffs, holes and tears.
We can also clean suede and Nubuck and apply treatments to recondition and protect your leather - all within your home.
We will also provide you with a DIY cleaning kit for use between professional cleans.
Most of British leather furniture comes from Spain and falls into three quality categories. Generally speaking the more you pay the better the leather. The outer skin of the hide with all its imperfections and heavy individual unique grain pattern is always the most expensive. The second layer (just below the outer skin) has the individual unique grain of the cow but not the imperfections. The third layer is the cheapest and the grain is stamped into the leather by presses and so has a regular repeated pattern.
Regardless of cost or quality all leather is susceptible to sunlight, heat, wear and tear. It is often forgotten that leather is dead skin that has been dyed and treated (tanned). To keep leather soft and supple it must be regularly treated. Otherwise it will dry, crack and tear easily. Dyes and finishes will break down quickly and your investment will have been wasted.
Regular cleaning and conditioning by Chem-Dry Barnsley. will provide you with many years of enjoyment from your leather furniture, and save money on costly replacement.
